Hair Doctor Match / Independent information

Frequently asked questions

Hair Doctor Match is an independent information and enquiry service for Australian adults, not a clinic. A call-back lets you ask the referral clinic about assessment arrangements and clinic-set fees before booking. A registered doctor decides what assessment or further care is appropriate.

Do you sell hair products online?

No. Hair Doctor Match is an independent information and enquiry pathway for an assessment, not an online hair-product shop. Medicines are not advertised or sold here; any prescription, including one dispensed by a compounding pharmacy, is a clinical decision after a consultation. Dispensing is separate, and a consult does not assure a prescription or supply.

Can a hair-loss assessment take place by telehealth?

Telehealth may allow a registered doctor to discuss your history, pattern and possible causes when offered and appropriate. The doctor may still need an in-person scalp examination, tests or referral before deciding how to proceed. This site provides a call-back pathway, not the clinical appointment itself.

When might a dermatologist referral make sense?

Your GP or assessing doctor may consider a dermatologist referral if the cause is unclear, scalp inflammation or scarring is suspected, or specialist examination is needed. The receiving service sets its referral requirements and separate fees; a referral does not confirm an appointment. Public services assess referrals against their own criteria.

Are you a clinic?

No. Hair Doctor Match is an independent information and enquiry site, not a clinic. A registered doctor decides whether an assessment and any further care are appropriate.

Who will contact me after I enquire?

The partner clinic’s team can contact you using the details you share with consent. Our referral partner clinic should identify itself before you decide to book. Ask the team who would conduct any proposed consult before deciding to book.

How much does a hair loss consult cost?

$99 doctor consult — the fee for a consultation with a registered doctor only. Any treatment, tests or medicines are separate and decided by the doctor. Medicare rebates may not apply. Pharmacy fees, including compounding fees if clinically appropriate, are also separate and not included. Ask the clinic about any follow-up fees before booking another appointment.

Does Medicare cover a hair loss consult?

Medicare rebates may not apply. Ask the clinic whether the proposed appointment and your circumstances meet the relevant eligibility rules. Do not assume that an online consult has the same billing arrangements as your regular GP.

Is women’s hair loss covered by this enquiry pathway?

Adults of any gender can enquire about an assessment, including women who have noticed thinning or shedding. The doctor considers the individual person rather than assuming a cause from a pattern alone. Making an enquiry does not establish that any particular care is suitable.

Do I need a GP referral for a hair loss assessment?

You do not need a GP referral to send a contact enquiry through this site. Ask the clinic about requirements for the appointment it proposes. A dermatologist or public specialist service may require a referral, which your GP can discuss with you.

Can I use any pharmacy?

Yes, the pharmacy is always your choice if pharmacy services become relevant after a consult. You do not have to use a pharmacy connected to the clinic. Ask your chosen pharmacy about its separate charges.

Is my information kept private?

Your contact enquiry is saved securely for the enquiry team and shared with the partner clinic with your consent. The Privacy policy and collection notice explain the purpose of sharing and how to ask about access, corrections or complaints. Keep clinical information for the clinic’s own system rather than sending it through this site.

Do you sell my details?

No, we do not sell your information. Sharing with the partner clinic is for it to contact you about your enquiry and requires your consent. Commercial arrangements have not been confirmed; ask the team to explain any relationship before booking.

What if I am under 18?

If you are under 18, please see your GP. This enquiry pathway requires confirmation that you are 18 or older. A GP can discuss your concerns and decide what assessment is appropriate.

How do I make a complaint?

A working site contact address has not been confirmed. Ask the referral clinic team for its complaints process and the responsible organisation’s contact details. The Privacy policy sets out the current access, corrections and complaints information, including contact arrangements that remain unconfirmed. For concerns about care or clinic handling of information, ask the clinic for its own complaints process.

This site passes enquiries to one referral partner clinic, not a panel of providers. The commercial arrangements with the referral partner have not been confirmed. Ask the team to explain any relationship before deciding to book.
